[REH] [MAT] [AR(T)]
REH-MAT-ART stands for:
REH: REHABILITATIONMAT: MATADERO / MATHEMATICS
ART: ARTIST
Each idea has its own action field. We want to start talking about the upper scale.

On the other hand, we have linked the concept with the brainstorming ideas we have found most interesting.
1- the head
2- the body
Fisrt, is related with the senses, and the second one with the action that provided those senses.
We want to take out existing floors out.
We are going to have 4 modules per floor.
The head, is going to be space for consume, that is why our plan is to fit building's most public functions there.
The body is structured in two main axis. The main one connects with the body like a backbone, and the second grate axis stablishes the conncetions between voids.
This sums up the previous explanation.
We are aware that various type of artists with different needs are going to ocupate these spaces. Therefore, we have tried to stablish a catalogue based on the artist type and the density that carries with them.
For example, a ballet dancer will only carry a suitcase; or a drummer will need a lot of space to store his stuff.
Finally, we want show you an hypothetical display of the internal cells relations.
. Social: would be public area.
. Working: can be understood as both, public and private.
. Living: we understand as a private space, but sometimes can have relation with the most public areas.

BRAINSTORMING [1]
- The first idea is o take all second volume´s floors out in order to bring best flexibility to our project.
Volume "one" is going to be the consume and exhibition part and the existing atructure won't be touched.
In volume "two" the relation between the facilities nd existing façade is going to be a continuous void -> light.
-Volume "one" is going to be the FLEXIBLE exhibition part and the existing structure won't be touched.
- Volume one will be flexible module with openings, moveable but the structure won't be touched.
-The flexible module with openings, moveable, will fit inside any existing envelope/structure.
-The flexible module with openings, moveable will fit inside any existing envelope/structure. That envelope and partition elements must be made in a standar way and the way to put together must be able to return to the basic piece (the standar ones).
-We will never put different modules from the same sex: male/female/male/female...
-However, the use of these two modules will form one image, one expression.
-The expression/image of these txo modules should represent calm float of creation.
- The crowded or exhibition spaces have to be related with the creation ones. But they shouldn't be near each other.
-Exhibition spaces should be grouped with each other but also connected with the working areas.
- Carry the exhibition to the city and the city to the exhibition.
- There is no limit between the exhibitions and the city. No borders.
- The exhibition area is going to be apart from cityzen.
- But it will be so attractive that anyone could run to see it.
- Colourfully attractive.
- Colourfully attractive that will catch the guests/visitors eyes.

- Useof modules, creating occuped and empty spaces in the different stories of the Matadero building.
Mix of uses, flexible spaces. The space mus be capables to host different users.
Aproaching the natural ligth-> proximity to the existing façades.
Comunication between the different floors.
-Comunication between different floors, VERTICAL.
-Comunication between the different floors should be vertical but deformated or contrasting with the existing site.
- Comunication between the different floors should be the relation space itself of artists.
- Artist's relation area should be placed betwen two floors, like boxes hangingfrom the ceiling.
- Artist rlation area will be boxes, and boxes will be hang from the ceiling.
- The relation between boxes will be like a net. Everything is connected with everything.
- Everything is connected with everything as the blue sky ins connecting clouds.
- As people that live there and will come to see exhibition are connected, in order to share ideas.
- Create 6 different spaces for interaction between rtists an visitors in order to exchange ideas. 6 spaces for courses.
- Those 6 interaction spaces could become all one, or two or three, depending on the demand.
- Althoug being independent places to get privacy that way its require, it has to understand as one project. The conection could be art or another, because sometimes, it is necesary lonlyness you are part of big community.
- Each module is transparent.
- Transparency between the artist's works allows a sense of competition among them.
- Transparency between the artist's works allows a healthy sense of competition among them.
- Maybe is a site or rest area from werw you could look at all your partners/artists' works?

-Our main idea is to create different modules and put them in different places. Two or three modules like pixeles as in the Manubuild text. One box module for the living zone, two boxes for working.
- Add/create different modules and put them in different places.

- An easy and fast way to create new spaces not to heavy elements that can be joined by anyone.
- To create from space, possibility to create two with some kind of partition.
- Some of those partitions shoul allow artist to express themselves, walls that once painted could also be exposed to visitors.
- The painted walls can become the icon of the place to make relation the icon with the place; for example Guggenheim in Bilbao, or paviment at Bilbao.
- The 8th nave will be totally isolated from the outside. The artist are alonein the world people outside doesn't exist. Total isolation.
- White rooms with just an artist an a clock on tha wall.
- The canvas or the materialfor an artist is the module. The dea is to represent yourself, show it off in the end an bring ones or reuse existing with coming new artisr.
- If artist's canvas is the module, the one that other artst is going to use in the future, you can't think only in a single person. > standar/complex...canvas?
- The module has to be for many people, in order to not be isolated.
- And th changes will happen very fast.

MATADERO________________________________________________FIRST APPROACHMENT
DEMANDS:
-To design in a draft level.
-For the correct evaluation of the project, it has to be clear the use of PLADUR systems.
-All construction details needed for the understanding of the project.
-Technical specifications, report and a budget.
EVALUATION CRITERION:
-Correct use of PLADUR systems. Which is the quantity of used systems?
-Innovative way.
-Programme:
5 private spaces (50m2 each)
common social space (50m2)
-Fulfill ALL REGULATIONS
-Different users

-Economic viability.
-We can just modify the floors.

FAQs:
Is it a permanent intervention? What grade of flexibility?
Do we have to maintain vertical communication?
How many modules?
FIRST APPROACHMENT TO THE EXISTING BUILDING:
The building is composed by two defined parts.
-A. The principal entrance and vertical communication core.
-B. The main pavillion.
They share only one structure line, the one that is centrated in the longer axis. The rest of the structure is independent from A to B.
It has been noticed that part B is symetrc in its both axises.
Also, the highest floor, is completly opened in terms of façade.
STRATEGY:
The first strategy of operation is to locate installations (165m2 approx.) and consumer area in the communication body. Our aim is to distinguish the creative and the exposition zones.
Secondly, to increase the amount of light inside the building. Therefore, the team has decided to remove all B pavillion's floors. Also, a relation with the original façade has been treated as a continuous void. And we want to use the existing axes to structure the living/working spaces.
